hello everyone, just got my first mechanical chrono and i'm loving it.
but would like to check with you all here if this is normal. the day-date on the 3717, is it supposed to rollover to the next day within a certain amount of time from each other?
reason is because the first sample that the AD showed me had the date roll at around 12.03am and the day roll at 12.35am.
of course i didn't feel good getting it so they got another piece from another branch and that's the piece i have on my wrist now. the day and date rolls before 12.05am and i'm very happy with it.
the other 3717 in white they showed me had both day and date roll together at around 12.02am. and that probably set the standard for me to expect of for the piece that i am/was eyeing.
Hi and congratulations. A great watch: classic and versatile.
To my knowledge the day and date aren't perfectly synchronized, and the sample you saw is the exception rather than the standard. And often the change-over takes 30 or more minutes. So --nothing is wrong and nothing is damaged orvwill get worse. However, when you have the watch serviced you could ask IWC to fine-tune the change-over. They can usually get them closer and more consistent. Absent other issues, I'd suggest waiting until right before the end of the warranty period.

Thanks Michael.
The exception that you are referring to is the one that has both day-date rollover just after midnight or the one that has the day rollover at 12.35am?
That would mean vastly different things right?
I'm rather new to this and of the few samples I tried, only 2 pieces had the day and date rollover with about 30 min separation. The others rolled over within 5 min of midnight, and of each other. So that somewhat became the standard that I've come to expect of but do correct me if I'm wrong.

Congratulations on your 3717 Desmond, a fine watch indeed.
I am now interested in discovering my date change timeline. I'm currently doing a long term accuracy test so I don't want to stop it (been running at 0 secs for about a week). Hopefully I will remember to check my date around midnight.
