Greetings once again from sunny Zermatt. I skipped a day of reporting yesterday as the weather was really bad and picture taking was out of the question. Today started off with some stiff wind, 60 km/h, but by noon it was nice and sunny. Picture taking in the beautiful place was once again back on the agenda.
To keep this thread somewhat on topic, I am including one IWC advertisement I saw on the mountain today and some more BP 5002 shots (at the end of the thread) as this is the only IWC with me on this trip (sorry). It is a full moon right now and my PPC is unfortunately at home in the safe. : (.
The IWC ad is one of many scattered around the mountain. This BP advertisement is on the Trockener Steg platform where you wait for the tram to take you up to the Klein Matterhorn.
When you reach the Klein Matterhorn station you are some 3,800 meters above sea level as shown here on the watch I wear skiing. It has my ski pass downloaded into it and also has an altimeter function. I had just gotten off the tram at the top of the Klein Matterhorn and measured the altitude on the Swatch.
The tram ride up is a bit daunting. The tram climbs some 1,000 meters from mid-mountain to the top of the Klein Matterhorn. There are only three towers and all close to the start of the ride. There is a long interval where you are hanging by the cables over the terrain. Toward the end, you actually ascend the cable at nearly a vertical angle. Here are some of shots of the experience. First we see the tram as it leaves mid-mountain and then some shots of the look down at the valley below when you reach the top.
The start of the tram ride:
The arrival at the top, 3800 M u M.
A look back down. See the cable just handing out there with no tower supports in sight.
Here is some of the scenery when you arrive.
The view including me. LOL
The run down.
At the end of the day my old legs give up and I ride the gondola back down the mountain to the village.
Here are some views on the way down.
Back at the hotel I took some BP shots as the sun was setting in Zermatt. These shots keep me honest and OT, I hope.
I have one more day in Zermatt. Hopefully, the weather will co-operate and I can ski into Italy tomorrow and have some photos from that side of the ski area.

Great shots, Bill. The scenery and views from the tram are astonishing!
I live to be of service. It's more fun for me taking the pictures and writing the comments than it is for all of you who may be bored with the contents.
Hope to see you soon. Did you make it to NYC as you planned? Sorry I was out of the country.

Hello Bill,
watching your images really put a smile on my face. When I saw them I spent my own skiing holidays on the opposite side of the Matterhorn in Thyon in Les 4 Vallées. So we almost could have met on skis. :-)

There was another forum member in Zermatt as well. Maybe the next time we can all be together for a bit of on-piste, for me, skiing. : )
