I am looking for any information about this IWC... model, rarity, etc.
I put the case number and serial number into the "Date your IWC" applet and it indicated that the movement is a calibre 89, dating from 1952 and the case was "most probably produced resp. delivered around 1952".
I looked in the catalogs lined to this forum, but could not find a similar case. 18k, rose-ish, 37mm wide without crown.
It's probably authentic, but less common; I doubt that will add any premium to value.
If you can get the back removed, there usually is a reference number besides the case number. Also, is there a Probus Scafusia stamp inside the case back? Photos would help.
I can't tell from the dial photo, but could it be refinished?

There is the IWC stamp on the case back. The dial has been refinished - looks like a while ago and rather poorly. That is something I plan to rectify. Fingers crossed that IWC will have a NOS dial. A NOS dial is a long shot, so I am trying to find out more about the watch and original dial. It may never be perfect, but doesn't need to be if I enjoy it ;-)
No, this watch has no reference stamped inside. Not uncommon in this era. The case back markings look authentic, so I'd guess it's a relatively uncommon model. I wonder if it was first sold in the UK --I've seen several "small series" models there from that time.
The dial, though, is quite common, so IWC should either have one or can get one made (the latter of which takes patience and a slightly thick wallet).

Michael,
Thank you very much for the information. I found another post with the same case on this forum. The movement is different, but the case is spot on. It has a link to a front photo of the case.
I am relatively new to the vintage scene and this forum, so please excuse this question if it is bad form... what would I expect to pay for a NOS dial? If they have to make it? I am not looking for exact numbers... just an educated guess.

What say you?

Good luck.
