Its a beautiful sound ! for me with my 5001, I was pleasantly surprised the first time I had the rotating wheel-click noise and thought it a very nice touch or consequence of what was a good example of sophisticated and fine watch-engineering.

You can locate the retailer using this site if you need reassurance about the ADs authenticity. Alternativly post a picture I know several people who use this site would spot a replica at one hundred metres. rgds Pete
Hi Peter, Can you get people to have a quick look at the pics please!

Shortly after I get it started in the morning, my watch stops. Afterward, sometimes I restart it and sometimes it works the rest of the day, sometimes not. I have had it overhaulled twice - most recently through Tourneau's facility and paid $650 for the service - but the day after I got it back it stopped working again.
Is there something I need to do to get it started in the morning that I'm not doing? I'm sick of bringing it back to get it serviced for a lot of money and having the same problem occur. I love this watch, but is it possible that I just have a lemon?

If it was serviced and still not working properly Tourneau should fix it for free under their service terms.

I am bringing it back, but my question really was if this is a common problem that others have had or if it is something unusual with my watch. It's frustrating that after having it fixed twice, the same thing continues to happen.

Smperreault, I'm not sure what you mean by 'get it started in the morning'. Automatic watches will not run constantly and to optimum accuracy just by wearing them, and should be hand wound about 30 to 40 revolutions of the crown at first. From there on they should run if worn every day and you are physically active with your arm, but I find that a hand wind once a month helps, and I always hand wind after not wearing for a day or so.

By "getting it started in the morning" I mean that I wind it until it stops and then give it a few shakes and go on with my day - walking around, going to meetings, driving, etc. I have five other automatic watches (three Rolex, one Blancpain and a Girard Perregaux) that I treat the same way and they all run perfectly. This is the only one that has always given me trouble.

There's some disconnect here. Manual wind watches have resistance after winding a lot, and stop. Automatic watches don't. They have a clutch which allows continued twisting of the crown, and doesn't stop.
Wind your 3714 30 or 40 full revolutions, as David suggested. Wear the watch one full day. It shouldn't stop. Put it away when you sleep, and wear it next morning. It shouldn't stop either.
Technically, service issues aren't a forum topic, in part because we can't diagnose electronically. If it doesn't run as I've suggested, it's back to the dealer for diagnosis...sorry about that.
