I have a brand new steel pilot's watch chronograph for 2 months old. Yesterday when i tried to adjust the date the crown came out/seperated from the watch. I was quite shock as i never expect it could happen to IWC. I have also vintage aquatimer and using already for 3 years and no bad experience. Today i took it where i bought in official IWC store in Istanbul. They took it for service.I am still quite dissapointed about my watch. Do you have any idea why it happened just a quality control missing or what. As i never had with my other watches any bad experience.. Awaiting your feedbacks.
Unfortunately these things can happen. All crowns are just screwed into the shaft, and it's possible for them to get unscrewed, especially if one turns them, even inadvertently, counter-clockwise. I've had this occur on other high-end brands; fortunately it is an easy fix.

Hi Micheal, Thank you for your reply. I just got back my watch from the service. They fixed it and told me it's not because of user fault. I hope it will not happen again. Best,

Greetings -
I have a 3717 and was wondering if it is possible to over-tighten the crown? I'm just curious as I'm used to a Submariner, which is quite different. If I tighten it too much, will the stem break?

A similar thing has just happened to mine, except it was the chronograph start/stop button. Luckily I noticed the button and spring on the sofa next to me! I have screwed it back on to the shaft myself, but should I send it to a service centre for them to do it properly??
