Here is my nerdy analysis of their respective advantages and disadvantages:Mark XII (plus)- more water resistant with screw down crown(60m vs 30m)- works well with leather or bracelet- JLC movt is not as common as ETA 2892- handsome, traditional looks- easier to sell as better known(negative)- movement is prone to go out of regulation or have power reserve issues a short interval after service i.e. short intervals between services- just a wee bit bland due to its utilitarian styling that is seen in everything from Laco to Timex to Eddie Bauer (though done better here)Porsche Design ref 3510(plus)- unusual feature of built-in compass and mirror- urbane, sleek styling (back to the future late 70s style) pleasantly reminds me of my pre-teen years and other 'designer' products of that era like the black Braun cube alarm.- 2892 movement is robust and accurate over time- an iconic, collectible watch that is no longer made in any sense by IWC(negative)- PVD coating tends to wear away with use- aluminum bracelet is rumored to fall apart (delrin one no longer available)- to the non-enthusiast, could be confused with a Swatch or a 150 dollar MOMA watch- no screw in crown (can be advantage yoo as i wear neither watch underwater but need to adjust time when switching with sports watch)Any insights objective or otherwise you can bring to bear would be most appreciated. I have seen the quality of responses on this forum and I think it's the only one where two such esoteric pieces could be compared by people with familiarity with both.
