I own a mint IWC Porsche Design mens 18k yellow gold "Sportswatch SL", Model 9707 (style 11076) with black face.
Watch, papers, box vault secured since 1988. How many of these were made, and where can one get this appraised ?

I would like to help but your questions aren't easily answerable.
IWC didn't keep records by model numbers or a data-base that is searchable. As such, someone would have to manually count how watches were made, which is a major project. Your watch was made in years of low production and not many in all gold were made. I therefore can't answer if it was 5 or 100, but based on other models it was not a huge number. Searching for these references would be like the proverbial needle in a haystack.
I haven't seen your model sold recently, so I can't opine as to value. My best bet would be to find a reputable dealer or auction house specializing in watches.
Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.
