There is a possibility of an informal GTG in London as Sotheby's will be auctioning the watch and clock collection of the late George Daniels on Tuesday 6th November. IWC has several ADs near to Sotheby's so those who want to see what they have to offer can do a detour. I am intending to go to the viewing which I guess may be held the previous Friday Saturday and Monday. I emphasise that's a guess. This will be the last chance to view his work in any quantity. Do I wear my 5001 or 1850 or say to hell with it and wear both! Londoners have no excuse and overseas folks may have to create a reason into their schedule, it's just a heads up and if anyone interested then feel free to email me. For it to be an IWC mini gtg you have to be wearing one IWC at least, extras may include other brands!
I would love to attend but my schedule for November involves long-term planning, and I'm getting precoccupied with March ;) If you could repost closer to the November date I suspect the response will materialize then.
Often in November I spend a few days at IWC planning for the following year. It might not be difficult to detour for a day or two through London, even if Heathrow is not my favorite airport.

greg, please keep me posted. i'd be delighted to host some drinks for a GTG then or earlier. and i've got an inspiring setting too (and only 5 years younger than IWC itself!)...

On the Sotheby's website there is a listing for the sale plus a few photos with estimates. For anyone who fancies a trip to the viewing these details have yet to be posted. For those who fancy buying there are over 100 lots of yet unreleased details. Some lots clearly require very healthy bank accounts! I did read that George Daniels visited IWC twice, love to know what was on the agenda of those visits, was he trying to interest IWC in his new escapement?

Having discovered that the collection is being sold by Sotheby's London it appears it's also exhibiting in Sotheby's New York from Saturday 9 to Wednesday 13 June inclusive. Having been to his Retrospective Exhibition in London back in 2006 I would recommend any who can take a trip to NY and pay a visit to do so. Opening hours 10.00 to 17.00 except Sunday 13.00 to 17.00. If you can appreciate watches and clocks that are hand made rather than just hand assembled then you will be in for a treat. This will be your only chance to see some beautiful pieces. He also had a collection of serious pieces of clocks and watches going back many centuries as part of the sale. The sale number is L12313 The London Bond Street viewing dates are 1,2,4,5 November opening hours 12.00 to 17.00. At the moment I am flexible on dates but the 4th is a Sunday and may be a little quieter and may suit those from further afield or office bound. Sadly I failed to notice that there was a viewing in Geneva earlier this month, my apologies.

An IWC GTG in London for the Sotheby's auction of the watch and clock collection of the late George Daniels sounds terrific, and I would love to attend. I am, however, unsure I'll be available then, as I may be in the Southern Hemisphere. Is there a deadline to commit, or can we just show up last minute?

Hajoth at 15.00 GMT no PM received, tried even the trash and spam boxes.
Antonio, it's open, I am not committed to any date but I do point out the viewing hours are shorter in London so no staggering out of a pub after a long liquid lunch! You can always email me.
