Recently I came to hear that one of our fellow collectors has made a venture into the world of true Vintage IWC's and has acquired a rather nice vintage watch fitted with the fantastic IWC Cal. 8541b movement.
Now, we simply dont see enough photos coming by of some of these really great looking watches containing Cal. 85x
So I would want to ask all you fellows out there with those nice pieces (and yes there are some ladies too) to please post us a picture - any IWC fitted with a Cal. 85x qualifies here - so let's see them. To start things off - I'll post this photo here of my Ref.816AD Cal.8541 Aquatimer dating from 1975.
I've deliberately grey toned the photo - to hide all it's glory and the fantastic dial this one has on it. When you reveal yours - I'll show you mine.

Hi Mark,
A great topic for a great movement and line of watches - your timing is impeccable to as just 2 days ago I purchased my first watch with a 85x (or is it a 85xx ... ) but I do not pick it up until tomorrow, so for now I am not going to reveal what it is and wou will have to sweat it out until I pick it up and get some piccies organised :)
Cheers,
Ben

I bought an 1850 end of last year which I posted photos of, however there are way better photos than mine in the archives, mine is in YG not the white gold rare version. The 1850 is unusual that the movement was gold plated rather than the standard nickel finish and it had a sapphire back hidden by a hinged gold back. The movement is the C8541 which is the date variant with centre seconds. Use the Weeber machine or the cellars site to find a whole lot more about the C85

With your permission Telecaster - sharing your picture here of your magnificent Ref.866 - and all time classic.
I would recommend everyone to read Telecasters great post here Ref. 866

Ahh chucks Greg, please please share photos of that "of so very beautiful Cal. 8541" even if the quality of the picture is less. I personally know of only 2 watches containing a Cal. 8541 with a glass case back ! Pray kind Sir - please do post a pic.

I join in ASAP - but your photo is not an 812AD - likely the 816 ?

Great idea Mark, this thread has the potential to become a classic.
I didn't know you had a ref. 816 in your collection, what's the colour of the dial?
Regards,

Roberto

Andrew of course - a typo on my side and now corrected in the original post.
Thanks for pointing the mistake out - we certainly do not want to confuse any of our newer members, especially not around the iconic Ref. 812.
Can someone now post a picture of a Ref. 812 please?
Thanks
Mark
