Last week some Forum members from Holland and Belgium ( I was the only Belgian collector ) were invited to the Benelux launch of the new Pilot range. We were invited together with some watch-journalists and bloggers. ( The only ones with no IWC on either wrist...they were still dreaming of getting a nice watch ). We were welcomed by Robert Pennartz, IWC general manager Benelux and Scandinavia, a very nice guy. Place to be was the Groningen airport were IWC had a hangar that served as location for the Pilot launch. We stood in front of the doors, got a welcome word and then the doors opened with some smoke and Top Gun music. As we entered, there was a fighter pilot waiting for us next to his jet, friendly hostesses welcomed us with champagne. no better way to get in the perfect mood. There were two planes in the hangar ; the jet and an old Spitfire ( only 38 left of these ) that was flewn in especially from Great Britain for the occasion. There was even a great bar in the hangar ( I believe I saw something like this before, but can't remember where ;) ) Then we got the presenation of the new range. We were lucky to have 3 good speakers ; Robert, then Ted, former fight pilot who did a time-check first, and Christian Knoop, the head of the IWC design, who flew in from Schaffhausen for the event. Needless to say that they had all of our attention.

Thanks Tonny, great pictures! It's good to see so many happy (and familiar) faces.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend on Wednesday, I would havel loved to meet you all again. I was lucky enough though to be invited for the same event on April the first (no joke!) so I am 100% sure you had a great time.

Great, I could not meet you all not 10 km. from my home, what a pity. I wonder, did IWC organise this event three times at the same location? One time Clemens, one time Tonny, Martijn and Bob, one time Mark? The hangar door and the interior look quite the same in all the pictures shown here and on Facebook.
Kind regards, Paul
What you do may not be so important, but it is very important that you do it well. (my variation of a saying by Gandhi)

Hello Paul, a pity you couldn't be there. Yes, IWC had more then one presentation on the location, some large AD's could invite their best customers too for the launch.

Indeed Gents, the same location was used over a number of days for multiple presentations for the launch 2012 Pilots.
I was most pleased when I was invited to attend the session with the Benelux Collectors and appreciated that you guys thought to add me to the list. It was/has been some significant time since we last had a Dutch GTG in Amsterdam and I would have loved to have joined you guys. But as explained, I had already accepted an invite previously via my AD and as I was in Prague for most the week, Friday 13th worked better for me.
What I did notice, is that for you guys they had different speakers - probably because of availabilities of resources on IWC side, and of course they know that with the collectors they sometimes take deeper questions :~)
Either way, all the events were TOP NOTCH TOP GUN events, and we are most grateful to IWC marketing for hosting us all.
