I waited as long as I could, so on Saturday after all my errands were done, took boys to the dog park, dry cleaner, car wash, and bank I suggested to my wife, Nancy, that we have a late lunch in the city. Right away I think she was on to me and asked what else I had planned? I replied that after lunch I wanted to make a "quick" stop at the Boutique as I "NEEDED" a new strap for you 5001. Not sure she was buying this story, as I may have used the "needed" one too many times before.
Well, an hour later (no lunch stop) we entered the doors of the boutique while being greeted as old friends and not the spy I was described as in some previous posts.
Here is the Boutique manager Noreen greeting us:
As the picture depicts the boutique is set up in a multi-level fashion. One enters into the Portuguese room where almost the entire line is on display: It is very impressive!
From here you move on to the DA Vinci room on the left, Sorry the light setting on my camera wasn't correct.
On the right is the Ingenuier area:
Andrew, I took this picture for your benefit, perhaps a new bike for the race.
Moving further into the area you arrive at the Pilot Room
No visit to the Pilot Room would be complete without a spin in the flight simulator as demonstrated by Noreen:
Last but certainly not the least, they didn't have the strap I wanted (but ordered it without question) so I "settled" on a late birthday present. At SIHH I looked at the chrono Spitfire and selected it for a Christmas present in 2012, but that is 9 months away so it became a late and early present at the same time.
Finally, our quick visit for a strap turned into a fun couple of hours and another "must have" added to my collection. Thanks to all the staff and special thanks to Noreen and Patrick.
Kevin
PS, I have some more photos of all the watches on display and will post shortly.

Hi Kevin, When my daughter was a teenager I used to tell her that neeeed (irrespective of the eeee emphasis), and want were two different verbs. Life has come full circle, and it is I who now mixes up those verbs when it pertains to IWC. I wish I could be there. Enjoy.

Fantastic post and pictures Kevin. I can't wait to see the boutique later this week myself. I'll have camera in hand too. Kudos too on the Spitfire. That is a great addition to your fine IWC collection.

Kevin,
Now we are talking! All that anticipation and waiting and sleuthing was worth it. Can't wait to see it. Unfortunately, my trip on Monday was cancelled so I will see you later in the week.

What a great opportunity! And the acquisition is fantastic, congratulations and enjoy! It is a very much loved watch here, I wonder how many will be seen here in a few months time: no chance to be exclusive, I guess.
Kind regards, Paul

Kevin, absolutely superb visit report - and an addition to the collection of a great watch.
I, like you decided on one of these 2012 Pilot Chrono's with ardoise dial almost immediately on seeing it at SIHH in Geneve, and it's simply great that you too have got yours this early/soon after launch.
I know, that Paul is definitely chomping at the bit too, to secure one.
