I am writing in regard to the IWC watch PORTOFINO HAND-WOUND EIGHT DAYS REFERENCE 5101. I bought this watch on holiday 17.04.2012 in shop on Fuerteventura. Just after few days I have noticed that the watch is 10 sec. fast per 24h. Please advise me what can I do in this case.

it probably is running faster than "0 to +6 seconds per day" (what I understand are IWC's internal tolerable/recommended specifications), because it is new and needs to 'break in'. my own experience teaches me some IWCs, particularly those with inhouse movement, need about 3 months to break in.
so - I don't think there is anything to fear for now.
congratulations on your new timepiece !

Fantastic IWC. It is a beautiful reference.
Don't get upset yet with its accuracy / consistency. As others mention, it takes a bit for the lubricants to move around and settle in. It will achieve a more normal status with time. It's an easy fix later, if the situation does not change or gets worse, which I bet is not the case. For now, enjoy this beautiful new addition. Wear it in good health.

Congratulations! I bought this very beautiful watch 8 months ago. It certainly broke in but that changed nothing: it stayed 10 seconds fast per day. At first it bothered me, but not anymore as I change my watch every day. Enjoy jour new beauty!
Kind regards, Paul

Welcome to the forum. Since the watch gains 10 seconds think of it as a way of ensuring you're early rather than late. I tried the model on and it's a beauty. It's also got the best of straps.

Thanks everyone. Generally I am very satisfied - it is a beautiful watch. I looked for it at the local seller but they didn't have with silver-plated dial. So when on holidays I met him the decision was quick.
