Hi, can anyone offer me any more information regarding my very worn looking pocket watch with the following inscription inside, ''Presented to JIM on his 21st birthday FEB 20TH 1911 from his aunts Sarah & Euphie''. Markings are CH (Charles Nicolet) Patent 31457, Movement 466804, Case 496354. I found this amongst a tray of bric-a-brac at a village auction and paid £7.00 for the watch and various bits and bobs.
The watch has the following issues which i would like fixed but don't know where to start.
No glass 1 hand bronken Second hand missing Needs a good clean.
The plus side it still work and keeps lovely time. And does it hold any value (not that i would part with it). Melanie
Not all S&Co. watches are by IWC, but your find appears to be one. It's movement is called a calibre 57 made in 1910 (you can find out more about that from my pocket watch website). The case was made by Nicolet, and I can't tell if it might be a "Borgel" type case without a photo.
You can find out more about S&Co., which is Stauffer (the UK importer for IWC) and Nicolet by searching our archives, using the magnifying glass on the top left.

Thank you i will try and post a photograph. All i can say is it has a beautiful machine turned spiral design on the back of the case. Any thoughts as to where i can get the hand?. Glass is not a problem as my family business is optical lens based so i can easily get the glass made as we do quite a lot of this kind of thing already for london dealers of antique frames and opera glasses.

Just had a look at ''Borgel'' cases and happy to say yes it is.

Hi Melanie, here is how you post a photo:
Picture Uploading - A Snappy Guide To upload a pic to the forum, you will need to first upload the picture onto a hosting site. This can be space provided by your internet service provider (your account may already come with one with a limited size). Whatever the case, the pic has to reside on a permanently live server and cannot be on your harddrive.
Quick Step One: most people sign up for a free host at www.photobucket.com Quick Step Two: Upload your pic, preferably in 640x480 size Quick Step Three: Look for this box below and click on the URL beside IMG Code, and paste it directly in ‘Your Comment’ box when writing a new comment in the forum. Quick Step Four: check, check, check that you have successfully uploaded the pic (like I have done with the image directly above :) by using the preview button i.e. clicking on the ‘tick’, just above the ‘Your Comment’ box. And you’re done !
