18K,never polished or serviced. At first I thought I'd sell or trade it for a SS 666 black dial. I've never been a big fan of gold, but there is something about this watch which appeals to me more than I thought it would. I think it may go back to Schaffhausen for service and then a keeper.

Congrats Todd - the steel version of this watch is on my wishlist.
On servicing - I think it will come back to u brilliantly SPA-ed, like brand new. If replacement of parts is your concern, I believe you need only request specifically that no parts be changed. If you are fine with replacement of parts, based on what I recall I don't think they will return to u the original parts. Hope this helps.

A wonderful watch. There is a thread "IWC Ingenieur Revision" where I received a lot of very valuable tipps with regard to servicing. As recommended I did not have the dial replaced (which also had dots) and it made a lot of sense since it is a pretty old watch! Good luck with it and let us know what you decide.

Keeper - keeper! No doubt about it. A great watch which in my humble opinion (since you asked) should definately go back to The Wizzards of Schaffhausen for a full SPA treatment.
Dial replacement is personal - and I personally would have IWC redo / replace the dial and any other parts - after all if done in Schaffhausen, it still remains 100% an IWC.

Congratulations on this great find Todd. I agree that you should send it to Schaffhausen. Personally, I would have the dial fixed, I wouldn't like to wear it with these spots. As for polishing: the case looks OK so maybe you could pass on that so the watch keeps the traces of it's history.

Definitely one to keep. Well done on picking it up, I can never find them at auction, don't trust what I see on ebay & I've never seen one in a dealer's window. Considering there must have been thousands made where have they all gone ?
Opinions on servicing?
TIA
Todd

A beauty - wear in good health.
