I want to get either the 5444-03 or the 5023-05 but my wife says the former lacks something and definitely not with a white face and for latter, what is the point of having the moon on a watch unless you are a farmer. Any ideas to make her change her mind..

Do you have to convince her? Avoid that if you can.
These are luxury watches - you really don't need either one of them at all.
Try to explain to her that the 5023 Portuguese Perpeutal Calendar is a mechanical computer, and miracle of miniaturization. In that watch's case is a working model of a part of the solar system - accounting for the revolution of the Earth around the sun, the rotation of the Earth on its axis, and the revolution of the moon around the Earth - it accounts for leap years and displays the year in 4 digits. That year display has 3 complications/functions within it itself. The gear ratios for the Moon Phase display are so accurate - that the moon phase display will be off by only 1 day in 577 years. Unbelievable.
Try finding a diamond engagement ring for the same price that can do all that. That's the point. This is jewelry for men. Because watches do have some functional aspect - people tend to get worked in those features and whether they're necessary - but it's a work of art.
Show here the Portuguese Perpetual Calendar videos on the IWC YouTube Channel. That may give her some appreciation of the art and science packed into this marvel.

Samito, how can you fail to get her buy-in to the idea of the Perpetual being the watch for you - after the briliant worded responce from Ardoise above!
Follow his advise, share the marvels of minature mechanical engineering with her and she is sure to want to see her man "dressed up".
Best regards Mark ps: also ask her to advise her preference - these days there is quite a choice of case/dial color combo's in the PPPC's

Sorry Samito, I'm still trying to convince my wife that I really really need a PPC w a blue dial or my life will not be complete but as yet I've been unsuccessful. Good Luck and keep up posted.

I strongly believe only farmers should be allowed to wear sport watches with moonphase but, being 5023 a classy watch, where is the problem? LOL
