Had my eye on this for a long while, to complement my white face AT 2000. New to me, a gently used IWC Vintage Collection Aquatimer! In-house movement, plenty of shock protection, 120M WR and a cool, compressor-style that I love. This is the first watch I have owned with an in-house movement and I am enjoying staring at it through the case back!

JEZ4,
Oh my ! Your post is very timely for me. I have the VC-AT on order and am in the same boat as you were. Along with eyeballing the 3231 for over a year, it too will soon be my AT2000/White Dial's partner.
Tell me, does the 'Green Lume' hands and markers match the same brightness as shown in the "Collections" or the current catalogue pictures? The reason for my question is that in your pic's, the color (green) doesn't seem as intense. I tried on the gold version b/4 placing my order and never got to see the SS/black dial in the metal. I've been told that it is a bit toned down from the catalogue shots. Thought you could verify the real life viewpoint. One additional question JEZ4, how would you compare the overall "wear size" of the VC-AT vs. the AT White Dial even though they are both 44mm ?

Hi Andy,
Yes, the green matches the catalogue pics I've seen. One of the great things about this dial is how it changes all the time. Bear in mind I took those photos quickly with an iPhone, on a cloudy day in London. I haven't done the watch justice yet. The dial appears much flatter in my photos - it really comes to glorious 3D life in the steel! One minute it's all sparkly and dress watch, the next it's matt black tool watch. Quite a combination, I must say.
In terms of how it wears, I think it feels very similar in size to the AT2000. It is a big watch, and at the outer limit for me. I have a fairly slim wrist, although quite flat. It is 1/2mm taller than the modern AT, but feels (to me) slightly smaller: for some reason it doesn't feel quite as high on the wrist. The case and lugs are broadly similar - beautifully engineered. It won't feel any larger or smaller in diameter, or at least doesn't to me. Comparison shots:
I love the watch, and hope yours comes soon! Hope this helps, Jez
