Hi all!
Being new to IWC and to the Big Pilot, i have a question. Today i took out my watch and the reserve was on 4,5 days. Now, after wearing it in the office for five hours, it is still on 4,5 days. I understood that the movement would be fully charged upto 7 days after wearing one day, is mine doing ok then?
I think your understanding may be incorrect. You first need to wind your watch manually to full power reserve. Then, by wearing it, it should stay at that point. If you don't wear it, you will lose power reserve until day 7, when it should stop.

Your watch sounds OK.
Ah! I see! So it will not wind itself from 4,5 till 7 days! Thanks!

It will wind itself but it depends how you move. If you run wearing your watch, it wil wind much faster than if you just sit most of the time behind your computer.
On Saturday, when I do shopping and stuff, it winds much more than just during office work.

Up.
Hi guys,
I own a 5004 and my winding is fine, no worries. But I heard from a renown watchmaker the winding base (not meaning Pellaton) itself is (an exact copy/clone of or the same as) the Valjoux 7750. I know the base movement and high mech stuff is inhouse but some parts/ideas are not? Is it 'totally inhouse' or not? (apart from the balance spring etc) I've read a lot about the 5000/51111 movement but this confuses me a bit...

Hi Robin,
This doesn't sound right. There have been stories that the in-house movement from the Ingenieur 3227 (don't have the movement number at hand, sorry) resembles a Valhoux 7750 but there are also plenty of stories telling this isn't true.
The Caliber 5000 series are totally in-house and are like pocket watch movements very big in diameter. You can see this via the see-through back of a Portuguese Automatic that has basically the same movement as your Big Pilot.
