Hello,
My father just inheritate an IWC Ingenieur from the 70's and he would like me to exactly identify the model. This watch has been acquired in New York in 1974 and after some quick research on the Ingenieur dedicated web page I found out that this watch was the IWC Ingenieur Midnight blue dialed 854x. I'm really interested in getting more info on this watch. Does any specialist can give me some background info, history, movements,..? anything else.

Picture Uploading - A Snappy Guide To upload a pic to the forum, you will need to first upload the picture onto a hosting site. This can be space provided by your internet service provider (your account may already come with one with a limited size). Whatever the case, the pic has to reside on a permanently live server and cannot be on your harddrive.
Quick Step One: most people sign up for a free host at www.photobucket.com Quick Step Two: Upload your pic, preferably in 640x480 size Quick Step Three: Look for this box below and click on the URL beside IMG Code, and paste it directly in ‘Your Comment’ box when writing a new comment in the forum. Quick Step Four: check, check, check that you have successfully uploaded the pic (like I have done with the image directly above :) by using the preview button i.e. clicking on the ‘tick’, just above the ‘Your Comment’ box. And you’re done !

Congratulations are in order, then. Your father is now the owner of a Ref 866AD Ingenieur with a blue sunburst dial, as we call it now. May he wear it in good health.

TELECASTER, that's the where I found out what was the model. It's apparently a rare model and I must admit that it's a beautiful timepiece.
The photo is not so nice but I will upload more.
