Hello everyone. I purchased this second hand and am just in awe. What a beauty.
This is my first pricey watch and I'm still learning much about it.
I have been wearing it on and off the past few weeks. The last week, however, I started wearing it every day and I'm curious about the power reserve. It seems to last about a day and a half. Should I be expecting more?
I shouldn't have to wind it, right? I do it anyways but that doesn't seem to help the power reserve. I do shake my hand a lot and rotate my wrists (a habit my father has when wearing his watch -- he says it's to help keep the movement running).

Congratulations and welcome. This watch was also my first IWC.
I suggest that you give the watch a good wind - around 40-60 turns and then you will see that your normal daily movements will keep the watch running very well. Unless you leave the watch still for two days or so.

I would suggest similar to the kind suggestions above, that you hand wind 60 revolutions and then leave it alone and it should run for about 44 hours. If it only lasts for a lesser time, it probably needs a service.

Congratulations on the Pilot Chrono. I just got one last week, having owned two of these previously. I just think it's very classy looking, and now that it is discontinued, soon to be quite rare.

Sounds like it just needs to be serviced. Best bet is to go through Schaffhausen. Yes it'll take a while, but personally I wouldn't entrust anyone else with it (that being said, I'm not currently living in a place known for their fine jewelers).
Whatever you decide, continue to enjoy the watch. It looks wonderful.

The 3717, great versatile watch and IMHO the best looking dial of the classic Pilot Chrono.
Enjoy that special watch with good health.

The watch will run for roughly 1.5 - 2 days even when I'm wearing it. Am I just not shaking my arms vigorously enough?
Also, since it's out of warranty, how long can I expect servicing to take? Weeks? Months?
I suppose a local watchsmith will take a relatively short time but the catch is finding a good one.
Does anyone know roughly the waiting time with Jack F. (Superior)?
Whatever you decide, continue to enjoy the watch. It looks wonderful.
