It's about the places on the case that are satinized.
While reading this article: http://www.moeb.ch/Ingenieur/01e_ref666.html
It mentions that the middle part of the 666 tripartite case is satinized as well as the central circle in the bottom cover.
I think I've seen a few pictures of some collectors mint 666 Inges's where the side of the lugs that blends with the middle of the case is also satinized. Is this always the case? Was the "outside" part of the 666 lug always satinized?

Todd, to the best of my knowledge, no part of the 666 case was ever originally "satinized". Instead, they were lightly brushed; horizontally on the sides of the mid-case, and vertically on the side of the lugs. Best, Ian.

Hey Ian,
Thanks, thats what I needed to know. The above referenced article written by Marco Schönenberger in 2005 refers to the brushed areas as "satinised" . He also mentions the raised circular part on the back.
Ian or anyone else out there, if you could kindly send me a link or picture of the brushed area where the lug meets the case I'd be much obliged...

Hebe, It looks like the brushing is "horizontally on the sides of the mid-case" as Ian said. But is this also true of that part of the mid-case between the lugs in the space where the serial numbers are?
From the pics it's hard to tell but may look like the brushing is "vertical" like the outside of the lugs where the serial numbers are.
