Yesterday someone broke into our house and stole three pieces from my collection including two IWC's: Portuguese 500109, Aquatimer IW356809. Fortunately no one was injured during the break in. These were two of my absolute favorite watches.
Does anyone know if IWC has any resources to track stolen pieces? We reported the theft immediately to our local authorities. If anyone has any pointers it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

this issue has turned up before: http://www.iwc.com/forum/en/discussion/30471. i think generally the (very good) advice is to:
"Immediately get your police report number and inform IWC in Schaffhausen ASAP. Without the police report they can't help. They will send you (electronicallly) a form to complete so that they are able to help you to their maximum ability. I can assure you they do all they can. IWC does internally register approved (via official police report) stolen and lost watches."
"My suggestion is that our forum friend should make a list and then send to IWC, the local police, all dealers within a radius of where this occurred and major second-hand sellers in the area. I also would suggest visiting the local vintage watch fairs for a few months (there are a few near I believe). These watches will appear again"
"write IWC at info@iwc.com. They will keep a record and contact you if the watch comes in for service. You will need then to have the police verify your report."

Thank you all for your comments. Obviously it was a painful discovery. But I remind myself that many throughout the world have real hardships. I appreciate all of your well wishes and recommendations. I will defitnitely send my info to IWC.
I'm terribly sorry to hear that, same thing happened to me almost exactly three years ago, but at gunpoint and with all the family at home. At least it's a very good thing that you were not there and nobody of your family got hurt (I'm with David here - it would be fortunate if the thief was...).
All the best and I hope your insurance at least covers the material loss.

Omar Khayyám (Persia XI-XII Century) offered that Time should not only be measured in length but also in width due to the intrinsic difference between a minute or other depending on what is happening to the beholder... I wonder how a watch would look like...

Best advice I can give is to insure all watches. It may be tough to replace some models but at least you'll have the funds to do so. Hope these crooks are caught and you get your watches back.

Personally, I think it would have been more fortunate if the thief had been injured during the break-in...

I trust you have the serial numbers noted - and Yes, you should write Schaffhasen and inform them.
I would also suggest to post the serial numbers / inform local and regional AD's of the serial numbers.
Hope your insured and that you can soon replace those watches.
