Hi,
I am new to IWC and this forum.
I have just taken possession of an IWC 5001-14 Portuguese Automatic 7 day power reserve. I love the watch!
The watch was purchased, I am told, from an authorised dealer in the Caribbean, for a significant saving in cost, and delivered to me in London. The box and cards etc. are due to be passed to me separately in due course.
I wanted to know how I can satisfy myself that the watch is genuine? Visually it looks spot on. I took it to an authorised dealer in London who visually inspected it for 2 mins and said it was authentic and that if it was a fake "it is the best fake I have ever seen Sir".
However, in the absence of the box and the cards, is there anything else I can do to be certain it is genuine? I did think that a fake watch would not have an actual operating 7 day power reserve. In other words if the watch actually runs for 7 or so days it must be the real deal. Is that correct?

Picture Uploading - A Snappy Guide To upload a pic to the forum, you will need to first upload the picture onto a hosting site. This can be space provided by your internet service provider (your account may already come with one with a limited size). Whatever the case, the pic has to reside on a permanently live server and cannot be on your harddrive.
Quick Step One: most people sign up for a free host at www.photobucket.com Quick Step Two: Upload your pic, preferably in 640x480 size Quick Step Three: Look for this box below and click on the URL beside IMG Code, and paste it directly in ‘Your Comment’ box when writing a new comment in the forum. Quick Step Four: check, check, check that you have successfully uploaded the pic (like I have done with the image directly above :) by using the preview button i.e. clicking on the ‘tick’, just above the ‘Your Comment’ box. And you’re done !
