Look what I found?
My AD rang me up and to my surprise, this is what I saw. It is the last piece available....
Does anyone have any idea, is this a 2009/10 model?
My first concern, will it be good to buy it, if it has been around (in the store) for so long? In term of the mechanism? As I found the strap to be quite soft & seasoned, just like what it should be after wearing it for a while. Probably, many people has try it before.
As I read that this is a manual winding movement, what is the pro & con? Which movement type does this belongs to?

The movement should be fine, but in any case a new watch (even if in stock for quite a while) should come with a two year warranty from IWC.
You might consider politely asking the AD if in view of the watch's age he would consider having the movement serviced at no extra charge to you. However, I would only suggest that approach if you are serious about buying the watch. If the strap shows much wear (other than "softening") you could also ask him to replace the strap or sell you a new one at a reduced price.

Hi Fleek,
1) this edition was announced around August 2006. for more information, see: http://www.gregsteer.net/IWC/Portuguese_LE/Portuguese_LE.htm
http://www.weeber.biz/IWC/Workbook/2007/5444.pdf
This is the hand-wound Cal 98245, and here is some info about it. There should be more in the archives: http://www.iwc.com/forum/en/discussion/20750/ http://www.iwc.com/forum/en/discussion/17918/
2) while it was announced in 2006, not all models would have been produced at that time (would be my guess) - as this would depend on demand and production cycles (based on the little I know)
Regards, Shing | email iwcforme1976 (at) gmail (dot) com time does not change us. it just unfolds us. max frisch. all that really belongs to us is time; even he who has nothing else has that. baltasar gracian.

Hi Shing,
Thanks for the info.
I saw your post sometime in Sept, there is one available in HK flagship store. I will be in HK next month, have you recently been there and do you think it is still available?

hmmm, I was there yesterday, but I can't quite remember if it is still there. You might want to drop them an email to check and perhaps reserve it ?
This is their email: btq-heritage@iwc.hk. The new boutique manager's name is Clement I believe, and there is also Phoebe, Eric and Nicholas to assist.
On further reflection- there may also be one at the newly opened Pacific Place boutique. I only have the general email address: infohk@iwc.com

I have requested them to check for me to change it to a blue alligator strap with a deployment clasp. Just like what you see on the IW 500107.
Hmm, just wondering anyone has a picture with this blue alligator strap combination.....

Greetings Fleekk,
About a month ago when visiting my AD, I spotted a regulator with Ardoise dial (stunning !) in the case which had not been there before. I found out that a customer had been making payments on it for quite awhile and for whatever reason couldn't complete the sale, so back in the case it went.
I tried it on and it was so cool looking on the wrist. My understanding was that this model was made for only a couple of years. Can't talk price, but the Ardoise dial/WG variation commands a nice premium. If I remember correctly, my AD said his was delivered in early 2009 and was put on layaway at the beginning of 2010.
I'm quite sure you could negotiate a fair price adjustment (since it's been sleeping in the crib for so long) as well as a "extra" strap to your liking if you are ready to commit to purchasing.
BTW, I think the hands are blued and a navy strap would make an excellent pairing for that 3 handed beauty.

Let us know the outcome,

Like the idea you have of the new blue strap.
It's a great watch, right sized with a good movement and a piece that is not seen all that often - making it all that more special.
Go for it!
Best regards
Mark
