I just received a gold watch left to me by a family member but am having trouble identifying it. It is an 18k yellow gold Schaffhausen with white dial, manual wind with gold bracelet. The numbers on the back of the watch are 1232448 and then under that it says 149 in a box. Please help me figure out what I have here, thanks.
Welcome to the IWC Forum. The case number (1232448) is from the 1950's and if you can see the number on the movement and using Date your IWC the movement production date can be ascertained.
The 149 in a box (it is actually a hammer head) is the number for the case maker, Wyss & Cie.

You might try searching the vintage catalog project for similar examples you your watch.
Hope this helps. Great lugs and also dial layout.
