After building my collection over 10 years or so, I am hoping to upgrade to a precious metal piece (platinum, white gold or rose gold). To do this, I am going to have to part trade at least 2 watches from my current collection. Which should I trade and what model should I be looking to up trade to?
Info: - none of the watches below were gifts (all were to me, from me) - the 3714's get less wrist time, but both have rarer, discontinued dials and one is a limited run of 50..

I agree with Paul on what to trade in and would like to suggest a Portuguese Perpetual in white gold. The blue dial is my favorite and the ardoise dial is a close second!

Hmmmm...
well if u are looking at another line (apart from Portuguese), I highly recommend this...
if still Portuguese then I would recommend this (note though I have a bias against yellow, red and rose gold)...
my personal opinion is that one can never go wrong with a portuguese perpetual calendar...

As I am both a style and movement guy, I would focus on having different watch models with different movements in my collection. In addition, since limited editions represent more exclusivity I would try to keep them as well. Also, it seems you are a ‘panda’ guy and if that rocks your boat then I would keep most of them too. Thus, if you have to part with 3 watches I would choose these:
1) 500109 2) 3714 regular production 3) This one is really tough. I would probably end of parting with the 500107 (even if it is a beauty in all aspects). You could also consider 500112, but that Laureus blue dial is absolutely stunning!
I would look for a Portuguese Perpetual Calendar in either Rose gold (black dial) or White gold (blue dial) – with double moon phase. Or perhaps this baby (got to love ardoise…)

You have built up quite a great collection there! Keep a dark faced chrono and a white faced non chrono, then the world of choices is your oyster. The PC sounds like a noble addition.

MATTM, I would let go of the bicolor Portuguese Chrono & the Portuguse Automatic with the black dial and certainly go for the PPC (ref. 503202) - red gold needed in this lineup.
Cheers!

MATTM ! Your collection is portuguese heavy. As suggested by fellow members you should let go of the watches with similar dial / movements.
Like Shing I would also strongly suggest you to go for the Portofino handwound moonphase from the vintage collection : Or the newly launched Portofino hand wound 8 days Ref : 510107 Incase you looking for something sporty in precious metal : Spitfire chronograph Ref: 387803.

All comments appreciated. Thanks.

What you do may not be so important, but it is very important that you do it well. (my variation of a saying by Gandhi)

I would favor rebalancing your collection by adding some diversity. That said, here's my suggestion:
Part with the White Dial 3714 "Panda" (keep the black dial version..very cool)
Part with the bi-color 5001
Add a Platinum Vintage Aquatimer...stunning!
Once completed, show us the big smile on your face looking at your upgraded collection.
Best,
Andy
