Hi ,
I really need your help on this one, I saw at Hodinkee forum that they had been to a trip in the IWC museum and there they took some pictures and especially one model i am interested in, it`s the fliegerchronograph in ceramic, believe it is a ref 3706, but cant find it any where, even on fliegeruhr.ch.The watch is in ceramic and what i havent seen before on these models is the Date window with the day and month are on black background with white writing, is it just me or is it just an old prototype. Hope you can help me and understand what i just wrote.

Hello Flemming, Ref. 3706 was the normal steel version, the ceramic is ref. 3705. If you do a google search you'll find plenty of info, and several for sale. Best, Ian.

Hi Flemming,
the original ref 3705, the first IWC flieger in ceramic, came with white date and day backgrounds, for example:
there is at least one forummer who has reported that he has had the background changed from white to black: http://www.iwc.com/forum/en/discussion/29373/ (see Roberto's post)

are u referring to this one Flemming?
interesting indeed - this is a german dial, and is also a 're-dial' without the 'T Swiss T' - the original dial will have tritium but a re-dial would have the tritium replaced with luminova.
as to why the date/day background has been replaced with black instead of white, could this have been replaced by Schaffhausen for some reason ? I know previous posts in the archives have mentions of how date backgrounds were changed by the retailers for various reasons, including 'to promote sales' etc.

Hi Flemming, here is the 3705 with the German date disc and hang tag. Like Alan, I have never heard about date color changes with the 3705. Kind regards

Here is the link with the photo about all my 3 ETA-Valjoux 7750 driven chronos, all three with replaced day-date discs from white to black: http://www.iwc.com/forum/en/discussion/59376/?page=2#post_430030 I think dark dials look way nicer w/black discs. Best, Robert

Thanks for your speedy comment, but they are not with the black background in the date window?
