The factory did a superb job of very lightly polishing it which allowed several of the deeper scratches to remain. This is fine with me as I purchased this watch as a user, not a museum piece.
Todd, nice result (the dial looks great), 'though personally I'd never have let a polishing wheel anywhere near that beautiful crisp unpolished case, particularly with the lovely patina of age that the gold had acquired... Best, Ian.

Ian, I hear you. I think ideally, if I had been able to find an older original dial with acceptable patina, I may have kept the case as is. But once I realized that that IWC was not able to clean up my old dial and would be using a new replacement, it made sense to clean the whole watch.
If this were purely a collector and not a wearer I would have had the movement serviced and nothing else.

It looks great, I am eagerly awaiting the return of my 666 from the spa too, but probably a couple of months away yet. I am also getting a new dial as mine was too far gone and hope my watch turns out a s good as yours did.

You now have a very handsome, very wearable watch and I wish you well to wear it in good health.
