Hi Kevin,
thanks for the hint. However, as much as I really like the DFB, I can't own one. And here comes a bit of history about myself, as explanation why I can't buy a DFB one: I was born, grew up and am still living in Germany. But my parents were both Italian immigrants. They made sure, that I get injected an Italian culture at home. So, we were speaking only Italian at home, the food my mom was cooking was Italian style, etc. So let's say that by this I got injected both cultures and languages, when at home with my parents strictly the Italian one, and outside, at school and with my friends the German one. At a certain point in my life I learned to be German or Italian, depending on the situation and whether it was useful, made sense or was simply fun. Still today, I am playing quite a lot with switching between being German and Italian. And, as written by my fate, I ended up working in Germany for an Italian company:-) Having said that, there are a number of things, in which I am always by principle German and Italian, respectively. The German ones are: timeliness, reliability, accuracy. The Italian ones are: style, easy-going and Football! That is the reason that I simply can't buy a DFB BP. As much as I love it, as much as it looks great, it is simply wrong on my wrist. Dear IWC, what about entering into agreement with FIGC and launching a limited BP Azzurri?:-) The dial has to be blue (azzurro) and I am sure there are going to be a lot of collectors who will love it because of the blue dial. Wouldn't you, Alan?

Very interesting Giovanni. Not as exotic as your history, but my mother was from Wales and my father from England, so I used to (and still do) support Wales in Rugby and England in Football! Could be the topic of a new thread.

I sure would. But I understand your feelings about the DFB. In the US none of this makes any difference to most of us. But if the Dallas Cowboy star was on a watch over here there is no way it would be on my wrist no matter how much I liked the dial. LOL

Or Eagles Green for those of us north of Route 195. LOL.
Giovanni,
I fully understand your situation. That said I'm sure the DFB will go to a good home!

giovanni,
like many others i debated between a 5004 or 5002.
my decision is shown below and let me assure you, there is something 'extra special' about the 5002. hard to explain, but when so many things are done right they add up together and create something magical.
so if you HAD to make a decision (and the 5004 is of course still an excellent watch) i would *follow your lovesickness* and go for a 5002 (and besides, if you ever changed your mind over time it will be harder to get the 5002 than the 5004 i believe).
I agree with Alan. In fact, there is still a new DFB in NYC if you or any other collector is interested.
