There were several models like this in the 1980s/early '90s. I'll attached below sheets on References 2007, 2009 and 2010. If you can't see them carefully, the links are www.iwcforum.com/Vintage/20xx.jpg
The last one, the Ref. 2010, is the Portofino ultrathin --a bit small by today's standards, but what a watch.

Michael,
I note with interest your comment on the Ref. 2010 fitted with a Cal.849. Are you able to share any specs, on that Calibre? The watch sure is an ultra-thin with it's 4.8mm height.
I ask, as I always thought the true "flatline IWC calibre" was the Cal.403 as found in the Ref. 2403?
Mark --the flatline calibre was a relatively minor and frankly not popular watch. There were several "flatline" models. If I recall, without checking, the calibre 849 was thinner than the 2010.
The reference 2010 was the ultra-thin of IWC. The calibre 849 was really a Jaeger ultra-thin movement, still used today. Back in the early '90s it competed with the JLC ultra-thin and the Patek ultra-thin (which used an F. Piguet movement if I recall), and the Vacheron and Audemars ultra-thins, as essentially the ultra-thin market. Back then, ultra-thins were prized as horological accomplishments.

Thanks for the answer Michael. Interesting piece - especially if it had a roman numeral dial.
