There are two smaller watches that share quite some properties, but have a different look. Knowing that you have a choice makes you curious, you start to wonder which of the two you would prefer.
The watches I mean are the new 40 mm Ingenieur, and the Mark XVII. The Inge is only slightly smaller: 40x10 mm versus 41x11 mm. Both have a 30110 movement. Both have an antimagnetic cage. Both come on strap and on bracelet. Some small differences: the Inge has crown protectors, the Mark not; the Mark has a triple date, the Inge not; the Mark bracelet has micro adjustment but is not integrated in the design of the watch, the Inge has no micro adjustment but is integrated; the strap of the Inge is non-leather, that of the Mark is croc.
I like both watches. They are pricewise at the lower end, yet have a lot to offer, including good looks. As I considered the Mark, I now have another one, the Inge, to think about too. Certainly the black dial Inge looks great to me. I am undecided yet about which I would prefer.
Did you already wonder about these watches? Has one of them a slight edge to you, why?
Kind regards, Paul

Paul, I thought the same things. Despite the similarities you cite the watches have a completely different look. I, unlike others I could name, prefer the triple date. But only on a pilot watch. Really comes down to a matter of taste.
I'd go with the Pilot. But not until I tried the Inge on my wrist.

Yes, Alan, I give the Mark XVII the slightest edge too, because it is a bit bigger, and has the micro adjustment on the bracelet. But the dial of the Inge might be a bit nicer, not so plain. You really need a wrist-to-wrist. Happy is the man with these kind of problems.
Kind regards, Paul

I think a lot depends on what other watches one owns and his or her lifestyle.
To my thinking, the Ingenieur is a lot more versatile watch, in terms of dressing up or down, and using for varied lifestyle activities. But both are great.

Lets be realists here, we all know that you (or anyone else on this forum) will end up owning both of them before too long - it is just the IWC way, once the bug has bitten, you cant resist the urges so there is no point debating which one to get, the only decision is "which one first" . . . :)

@ Ben, you sound like a Doctor here. Alas I must say I do not believe you are one...
... Your diagnosis and explanation of expected symptoms are just so spot on, that surely you are a specialist! LoL :-)
Indeed, the Inge would be my favorite...but they probably won't hit the streets until April/May time frames - and the virus will demand medication/treatment.

Ben & Mark, you are both soo right, there is at least 3-4 months before any of the new watches are delivered. The virus will need something sooner! LOL.

Similarly to the others, I would like to have these in hand, on my wrist, and before my eyes before deciding among the various benefits each has. The virus is back.

So yes, probably one ends up with both!
