First post. I fell in love with a customer's 3717 when he came in a couple of weeks ago - I had been a Breitling man through and through up to that point. There is no AD any where near here to try one on so I am at the mercy of the interweb over this. Looking about the price of the 3777 is pretty much the same as or lower than than those of new or recent second hand 3717s. I'm not buying one as an investment, it's for my wrist, but is it the forum's view that the 3717 is going to have better residuals when it becomes time to sell?
I prefer the look of the 3717 (but there's not much in it) but like the larger size the presumably more up to date mechanicals of the 3777.

Hello MOTHERTHERESA The movement is the same in both, at least I don´t think IWC has changed any components, as for resale value probably the 3777 while hold its better probably because it is a newer model. Other than that I think it only depends on your taste...

The 3717 and 3777 are pretty much the same, but for the looks and size. So, I would decide on that. Both are great watches, and have a very good value for money. I would take the 3777, slightly bigger and an "opener face", which I like. Good luck!
Kind regards, Paul

Voting for the 3717...
IMO if you're are looking for more traditional Pilot Chrono, keep it simple and classic. If you desire a busier dial, go with the "top gun" or Pilot Double Chronograph . I also believe the 42mm 3717 will be the "sweet spot" in sizing over many more years. Most viewed "seconds" sub-dial not obscured by logo. More legible as eyesight ages. IMHO, I feel over long haul, resale pricing will command premium. But ...I don't buy to sell. I'm a watch hoarder. Can't let any go. My wife sometimes says, why don't you sell some that you don't wear often? My reply..."Over my dead cold wrist". One of the side effects of the virus.
Whichever your choice, you will be happy it's a IWC. Let us know how things turn out.

3717 would also be my choice simply because it has less 'clutter'. Do you really need to know yesterday and tomorrows date? I understand the 3777 is trying to emulate a cockpit dial...but the cockpit dials are not there to tell the time! Also are the 5 minute markers really neccessary, we are all adults who can already tell the time. IMHO
