Hi everyone
A survey on the Subject Title.
This year we have seen so many popular IWC watches and ones that have become forum favourites throughout the year 2012.
Ones that come immediately to mind are the BIG PILOT special edition for DFB and the Limited Edition Muhamad Ali. The former was previewed to the SIHH collective and the later I had the chance to wear at the IWC flagship boutique in New York. Both are highly acclaimed here.
2012 was the Year of the Pilots http://www.iwc.com/en/collection/pilots/ but also the year the Ref 504101 Portugese Sidérale Scafusia was brought to the world ! Amazing ! http://www.iwc.com/en/collection/siderale/IW504101/
This leads me to my TWO favourites
Number 2 is Ref 5029 - BIG PILOT'S WATCH PERPETUAL CALENDAR TOP GUN http://www.iwc.com/en/collection/pilots/IW502902/
Number 1 is The IWC Spitfire Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Laureus Charity Night Edition which was sold for CHF 140 000.
An outstanding IWC in house developed movement in a Platinum case for a charity. What can top that ! I wish one day that I can see this model and another wish for 2013 would be to see the Laureus 2013 limited edition model appear in this form in a steel case !

Agree, so many great watches. The DFB certainly ranks up there - but, the Ardoise dialed Spitfire Chrono in steel with in-house movement, whilst at the lower price scale of watches listed so far - must definately also rank as a contender here.

it's a four-way tie for me, of which three are IWC, and one is not mine... the DFB above, and this NOS 5001-04 I picked up on a surprise walkabout...
and this magnificent and huge beauty that I left behind at the boutique...
i won't post the final one with an R and an M in its name lest I run counter of forum rules :)

The Sidérale is, of course, in a league of it's own but choosing that would be like saying that the Ferrari Enzo is your favorite car. Maybe but almost no one will ever have the opportunity to drive one (let alone own it).
So like several of you, I'll slide to the other end of the IWC scale and go with the new Spitfire. Beautiful and very functional watch. It might also win the award for biggest improvement over it's predecessor.
Not long before we can begin talking about the best new watch of 2013.

My number one choice is not new but a Portuguese Perpetual in platinum. Next to no chance of ownership but to my mind sublime. Also like the Spitfire digital calendar but not a watch for me.

My choice would also be for the DFB, it's such a stunner. As Felix says you can't help smiling every time you look at it. Mine gets more wrist time than the others for months now.
Best regards Jon
Ps if it didn't have to be 2012 then it would be the Portuguese Tourbillion Regulateur, this is my favorite of all time.

Just like Alan, my choice also goes to the DFB BP. Just love the dial and the BP design. I smile every time I look at it
This is a photo I took just one hour ago. Happy New Year, everyone.
Best Regards,
Felix
also rank as a contender here.
Best regards

While I love my DFB I have to second your choice. The Spitfire Chrono is well priced and available not to mention the ardoise dial is beautiful.
Happy New Year.
