I was curious if folks here insure their watches against damage or theft? Most homeowners policies would not cover either unless they had an additional policy.

I do maintain an addendum policy to my homeowner's coverage that insures my watches against theft.
Best regards, Jim

I think it's absolutely essential. Some policies will also cover in the case of loss outside the home (mugging, for example). It's inexpensive peace of mind.

Yes, I insure all of my watches. And if you do make sure you check the value of each piece every year. Insurance companies generally add to the insured value based on inflation. I set the value according to market value.

I have a picture of my mother in law next to my watch box, "beware..." But since you do not have a mother in law like mine, insurance is indeed the next best thing.

We recently got robbed and I had two of my IWC watches stolen. Because my wife had had a "mysterious loss" within the last 3 years, we would not have been able to get an insurance addendum until Feb 2013. As a result, we are only able to get back $1500 for a loss obviously well above that number. Because the value of these watches goes up significantly every year, any investment you make in insurance is well worth it and will be easily recovered. Just my two cents.
