David, I tend to agree but must admit I would have liked the new triple-date windows more if it behaved more like a real altimeter of a plane - i.e. it would throughout the day move towards the next date (instead of 'abruptly' changing around midnight as per normal). That would then have more 'meaning' to the use of the triple-date window.
Anyone else happen to agree with this perhaps quirky view?

Thang,
Can't say that I agree with you on the triple date window having more meaning if it acted like a true altimeter. IMHO, the one line day/date or single date aperture on the classic Pilot's keep the overall design rooted to a more traditional look. While the original Mark's had no date and full arabic hour markers, my feeling is keeping the dial layout simple with maximum legibility is the way to go. More complicated dials can be had in the Top Guns and if triple date is aesthetically desired, the new Spitfire Chrono also offers that option.
Regarding the 3717 LE Swiss Patrol, it caught my eye right from it's introduction and I have admired it ever since. I hope to add this one day to my collection. Until then my 3717 black dial continues to give plenty of enjoyment and will be a permanent part of my watch rotation.
I've always thought that having a "sandblasted" case, matt grey dial, no date and full Arabic markers in the current Mark XVII size would make for a "Simply" perfect CF3.

Hello Andrew, Indeed a very nice model and I like that IWC has a tight connection to the Patrouille Suisse. At the former IWC Store in Zurich the salesman was a huge fan of both - likewise I. Right now I don't own the model, but I'm since very long time a member of the PS fan club. The watch it's definitely on the wish list. Best regards, Daniel
