Here are mine, but I'm not ready for the 2013 announcements yet!

I think it is appropriate for IWC to honour the Mercedes Silver Arrows which (together with the Auto Unions) dominated motor sports in the late 1930s. These masterpieces of engineering were so supreme that it was decades before their engine output was matched in modern day Formula 1. The silver arrows were named (allegedly) after the paint had been removed from the cars to meet the 750kg race weight limit. I had the privilege of seeing these cars at speed on the Goodwood track last September. The whine of the super-chargers as the Silver Arrows pulled out of the chicane was an unforgettable experience. That was the first time these cars had been seen outside of a German museum for many years.

I don't want to undermine the marketing campaign but I am at a slight loss as to the relevance of the mechanical watch to today's Formula 1. I noted the IWC marketing copy that the Ingenieur chrono will be useful for timing pit stops. Anyone who knows anything about Formula 1 understands that teams are measuring performance in thousands of a second and a slow pit stop is +3 seconds while a fast pit stop is sub 2.5 seconds. Pit stops often decide positions during races. I assume there must be a pretty good chrono movement being lined up for SIHH. If IWC is looking for another copywriter, they have my email address.
I have always loved the Ingenieur. In its purest form, it defines the ethos of IWC. Having said that, I could argue the same about the Pilots watches and the Portuguese line. Here's my current line up:

Ralph,
I agree with your comments about relevance to Formula 1 racing. But let's face it...the Inge's are not going to be used to time anything just like the Pilot watches are not used by pilots to measure anything other than perhaps what time it is at home.
Your Tribute to Italy is just perfect. Here's my tribute to Scotland :-)
