Scary, disgusting and promising at the same time..
Scary because it is so easy to be deceived.
Disgusting because some manufacturers copy things without compensating for the design-, development-, and marketing cost. Creation of jobs does not make up for that.
Promising because it allows people to wear an IWC who otherwise could not afford it and do some free advertising for the company. They might be even future buyers.
I am not sure if these fake watches take away sales. Everyone who can afford such a watch, wants to have the real thing and be assured that everything (screws, cocks, balance springs, hands, case, etc etc) is of good quality.
Your advice to buy from trusted sources is comforting to the novices among us (including me). Fortunately there are many people who can be trusted at this forum!

Thank you for the wake-up call Michael! Seeing this makes me very pleased with my decision to avoid the international second-hand market, although it was (still is) so enticing! Still, I should confess that I confided in various cheap&fake models just to see the watch on my wrist for more than those few minutes at my AD … 2012 Miramar BP, it helped to eliminate it from my “dream list” though.

People in Poland would say "If You can buy watch for 500 Euro which looks like original, why You do not do that?!"...But saying "Fake watches for fake people" is just perfect! I agree with You guys, that it's scary, that fake looks like original... I bought watches from Chrono24, but I always select shipping option with check package and that package always is shipping to my friend, watchmaker
+++1 absolutely !
