About 45 seconds ago I finished posting on another topic and then looked up to click on the forum link to take me back to the main page only to see that it wasn't there any more.
Whilst this is frustrating, it took me about 3.5 seconds more to figure out that I could just click on the "COLLECTOR'S FORUM" link which is part of the breadcrumbs at the top of the page - just below the IWC logo (currently reads "COLLECTOR'S FORUM > COMMUNITY > FORUM BUTTON/LINK > NEW COMMENT". So whilst not having the Forum link as accessible is annoying, it is just as easy to click on the collectors forum link to get back to where we need to be . . ..
Cheers,
Ben

Navigation on websites is a science for itself, but generally it should reflect what users expect and what they use most often. Only in a second step you should think about the importance you as a company want to give to a certain navigation points (content).
Assuming that IWC's partner here does a good job, most probably the analysis of the website statistics resulted in the finding that there is much more interest and traffic in other areas of the website than for the collectors forum (which actually is no surprise). So from that perspective, I support IWC's decision to do this move to the second level navigation.

The second part of the sentence offsets the first part of it ;-)
I tend to see real life as chiefly moving amidst many shades of gray, and is not purely black and white. in the same way the real world doesn't devolve into strict binary logic - I am not in the technology industry unlike some, but I don't think I need to be to justify this opinion.
There is no need in my opinion for any bi-polarity here - it is not a 'all or nothing' situation.
in other words - to me, anyone operating within the boundaries of reason will be able to see our forum is not more important than the overall marketing strategy of the manufacturer.
but our forum is also not unimportant. Unimportance would render it non-existent - contrary to the growth of social media, and contrary to the growth of manufacturer's forums, or manufacturer-endorsed forums.

"One component in an overall marketing strategy", and clearly becoming a lesser one. I've got not problem with the placement of the button/link to access the forum as long as I can access it. It is apparent, at least to me, that IWC does not view this forum as an important market component. First is the the venue IWC chose to "leak" the new Ingenieur line. Now this seemingly unimportant move. It is called "salami tactics" - one slice at a time. IWC may actually be correct. This forum, may actually be close to irrelevant to the bottom line. If I am allowed an aeronautical analogy. When designing a cockpit, the most used, and the most important, switches and gauges are more accessible than those that are rarely used.

I open a post is a new tab each time and close it when I'm finished. The main window is always open and I reload it every so often.
