Hello all. I've recently inherited my grandfather's old watch. It took me quite some time to find out basic information about it, now I hope you'll have some more for me. I think it's from the portofino line, but it's old, I don't know exactly how old.
It's a wind up clock. The band is leather, black, 17mm wide. The case diameter is about 37, it's round, gold\gold plated. only 3 , 6, 9 and 12 appear on the watch, all the rest of the numbers are marked with lines. the top part has very small fine "international watch Co" and the underneath it "Schaffhausen" on the bottom, underneath the "6" it says "swiss". The back is completely sleek, there's nothing on it. the pointers are in a different color, their not gold, their more... coppery. the hours and minute pointers are triangles
I'm pretty sure the watch is older than 25 years...
It could be several models, but see if you see an identical one in the old catalogs at http://www.iwcforum.com/Vintage_Catalogs.html
Try in the late 1950s or so catalogs. Also if you have a watchmaker open the watch and you get the case and movement numbers we can tell you more. In all events, your watch is not a Portofino model; they didn't exist then.

Given that the strap width is only 17mm, I suspect it is from the 50's if not older.
Does it have a seconds hand? Is it a sweep type? Or does it have its own sub-dial? Is it handwound (you can only wind it so many turns before it stops).

A photo could help.
