Hello to everybody, I have a new Portuguese handwinding watch ref. IW545408 cal. 98295 that is fantastic, I love it, but have an accuracy error of + 10 s/day, that for me it's not satisfactory on a piece of high horologery.... Have request a comment to IWC Italy [Riechmont Italia - the distributor] and the answer was that until +9 s/day is into tolerated field of acceptance from IWC..
What about your experience, and what do you think about?

This is fine. Since it is new give it time to get used to you and if it still like this in a month is so then get it checked out. If you do a search in the archives for "accuracy" you will see some additional examples.

+9 seconds per day is not within IWC specs. However, a new watch can take some weeks to settle in and be within spec. How you place your watch when off your wrist and how often you wind the movement affects accuracy and consistency among other things. Try to keep the watch more than half wound all the time. Allowing it to run out causes isochronism effect, which you can look up on google.

Welcome to the forum.
Thanks....
I own my IWC from two months, and I use rewind it day by day. Do you know something more about the field of accuracy tolerated officially from quality control in IWC?

In earlier days, it was normal that a new watch would need some time to adjust itself. Today, with the modern technology and oil, this is not true anymore (but still present in the mind of some). +9 seconds is by far too much, especially for a pocket watch movement. You should have it regulated. My watches with pocket watch calibre have +2 seconds maximum deviation.

After 2 months of daily use then this is too much. I I reflected that it was new and maybe just a day or two old.

I agree that +9 seconds after two months is too much. The spec is generally agreed to be 0 to +6 seconds per day. Adjusting the timing is an easy and not expensive process. Take it to your AD for a look see.

I have my 545408 for two weeks and had it on the wrist every day. I last set it correctly on monday an checked it a few minutes ago: 2 sec fast in 4 days.... So I guess yours might need a bit regulating under warranty indeed.

My 5001 was accurate like a quartz watch! There is obviously reported variability from one piece to the next...But, it was my most accurate automatic piece.
