Hello everyone. This is yet another "please help me" post.
I bought this from a guy in Ukraine. Even so, it's one of those infamous pocketwatch - conversions.
But what I am really curious about now, is if the movement and case is genuine. The dial, crystal and crown is obviously not genuine (even to me), but what about the rest of it?
Here are some pictures:
Movement overview
Detail 1
Detail 2
Case lid
Case lid inscription. Can anyone tell me anything about this? B&W to extract more detail.
Back lid engraving
Face. As said, obviously not the right stuff but just for the fun of it.
This is what I got from "date you IWC": The movement is either a calibre 40, a calibre 41, or a calibre 42, dating from the year 1885. The case was most probably produced resp. delivered around 1893. 1885 6,501-6,800 c. Elgin II 19lig. Pallw. 1890-1900 50,000-218,000 current IWC index preferred entry 1893-1896 100,000-150,000 old IWC index compatible with new case index of 2002

I don't mean to be disrepectful, but at least to me my stomach turns when I see these Frankenwatches.
Don't worry Michael. And thank you for your swift, frank(en) answer. So as i take it, even the movement is a fake or in the "best" case a "franken-movement"?
