Hello Fellow Forumites,
Through an unfortunate mishap I have scratched the front crystal of my Portofino 8 Day Handwound. The scratches are not deep and can only be seen when the watch is tilted upon reflection. My question is if the scratches can be repaired or if the crystal has to be replaced.

There is a third possibility: live with it. Certainly if the scratches are not that visible I would consider that. It may hurt now, but in a few days you will hardly notice them.
Kind regards, Paul

Wait until near the end of the guarentee period and then put it in for a service. Hopefully it might be included in the free service. But in the mean time live with it as chances are other everyday dings will happen. Lovely choice that 8 day Portofino.

The first scratch is usually the hardest. It will get easier to live with. Considering the fact that's its new. Sending it in just for a scratch may hurt you more by not having it at all. Like Greg said, wear until the warranty is almost up, and if you feel the same way then, send it in.

I have a small scratch in crystal of my 5022 Portuguese Perpetual Calendar. However, on most days I can't really spot it unless I stare at it and turn the watch in light to see a shadow on the dial - for most part, it's quite invisible to me - but, I will likely have the crystal replaced the next time it's in for service - the idea is, wait for the service interval when you're having other work done, like movement service, water resistance - since they will have your watch for a few weeks.... Expect between $300-$450 for crystal replacement along with other service. It may be more expensive if you're just sending it in for this purpose alone...

Any info is appreciated.

Thank you for your responses. I will live with it until it's first service as has been suggested. It's just a little painful right now... :(
