I disagree. The Ingenieur is a fundamental part of IWC's heritage. It combined elegance with the forefront of wristwatch development at that time. Anti-magnetic protection, an element of water protection was combined with the brilliant Pellaton-powered Cal 85 series of movements. The 3227 reconnected IWC with that heritage with the Cal 80110 movement. I am disappointed that it appears that IWC has chosen to have display backs on the new Cal 80110 Ingenieurs ("unless I am very much mistaken" - in the words of the great Murray Walker).
Rave, You didn't understand me...Ingenieuer series for me is heritage but if I have levels of heritage...from 0 (not heritage) to 5 (very heritage) now I would give Pilot's 4...Portuguese 5...and Inhgenieurr 2. But it's only my perssonal opinion and I think that style of new Inges is perfect!

I really can't grade levels of heritage. This is all very subjective and I am not saying you are wrong. If we were all in agreement, we would be chasing the same watch and making life too easy for the folk in Schaffhausen.
What makes this Forum so interesting for us is the divergence of views. It also adds value to the marketing folk in Schaffhausen. Sales will determine who is right and I suspect you will be proven to be more right than I.

Exactly Rave. You have truth too, because everyone of us have other personal feelings and so this forum is very interesting. Feelings are very subjective and anybody shouldn't discuss about that. And like You said-people from Schaffhausen must think everyday how the should care about tastes everyone of us-IWC funs.

I just bought a Big Ing Zidane Edition barely a month ago, not realising there would be no more 5000 series movements for the new Ingenieur range. Glad I finally made the move to buy my first IWC!

Very good choose! That limitation is great. We'll waiting for photos from You. Congratulations and enjoy!
