I am looking for more information on a IWC wristwatch I just picked up. I don't have the ability to post pics on forums but will try to take some and post a link.
Dial International Watch Co Schaffhausen in script Second at 9 pin set
Movement Oval with jwc inside Serial # 190900 with swan neck regulator
Dust cover Jwc in oval, German silver mark ,Swiss silver mark, rectangular with.800 inside for silver content. serial number of the case is 239385 and is about 49 mm
outer cover same marks as the inside dust cover.
Crown at 3 pin set at 4
Lugs fancy horns.
I have not be able to nail down which movement but from reading sounds like a 63 because the 9 o'clock seconds. I believe this was made as a wristwatch not put together from a pocket watch. The movement serial number gave me a range of 1895-1900, and the case serial number gives me a range of 1890-1903. I found an article that stated "recent reports claim that IWC produced its first wristwatch in 1898 so the time frame is not out of the question.
Any information anyone could give me would be much appreciated.
A search for movement number 190900 shows it to be a calibre 52 pocket watch movement from 1898. If this is in a wrist watch it is most probably a marriage, ie a pocket watch movement and possibly the case has been put together to makeup a wrist watch. The small second hand at 9 o'clock is also a give away.
