Hi all
I am new to the forum and the world of watches. I have decided to buy my first watch and I really like the vintage IWC's. I have found a watch I would like to buy, but after having surfed this forum a bit I became a bit afraid it might not be completely original. Can anyone help me identify the watch, its caliber and possible the year it was produced?
The only information I got is: Movement Serial No. 479022 Case Serial No. 617205
Also the price is around 1000 USD, is that a fair price?

Hi anders,
Welcome to the forum. I am far from an expert, the real experts are on this forum. Some of them are in Geneva right now so they might not respond as promptly as normal. Since you posted some nice pictures and movement and case numbers I am sure someone will be able to help. This is what "date your IWC" has to say:
Looks like the movement was produced a few years before the case..
As this is a non commercial forum we are not allowed to discuss prices, but I am sure if you post your email address someone will contact you and be able to help you further.

Hi there,
I believe this is a pocket watch and someone took the case and the movement and attached 'wrist-let'-esque lugs to it in order to convert it into a 'wrist watch'.
The dial, hands, crown are to me non-original.

It was a pocket watch, made by IWC, but now ist an alteration to a wrist watch so called "marriage". The case and probably the dial are not the original ones (not from IWC). The movement is a c.53, the most popular pocket watch calibre.

Thank you for your fast responses. I helped me a lot! Especially the webpage to date IWC watches.
I don't think I will buy this watch, but I will keep on looking.

But it is a shame it couldn't retire the way it was born, as a pocketwatch.
