It’s times like this that I wish I were a good writer
so I can properly put into words
the journey that I have been on...
which has happily ended
with the object of my desires firmly on my wrist.
*
How could I possibly describe the great transformation which was once
“what is going on with that big ugly crown?”
To now (having studied from all of you and your postings) to being
completely enamoured with something of
such “history, importance... and gravitas.”
*
How could I tell the tale of bitter moments of temporary defeat...
Which included an agreed surrender from a fierce warrior (i.e. a dealer) in the foreign lands of Korea, only to be told to stop from sending in the victory squadron (i.e. the funds transfer) as another hunter had stolen my beauty away (i.e. someone walked into the store that morning and bought it from under me).
*
How could I describe the great patience required:
Not taking the easy way out by surrendering to the dealers with their evil (i.e. inflated) prices
Not being tempted by the oh-so-similar cousin (the DFB edition of 250) when it was released (no this one was more ‘me’)
Not settling by acquiring others further down my hit (wish)-list
*
No, I would remain patient,
and focused on the target
and only this one...
Armed with the right weapony (google translate – to help communicate far and wide) and
with the right comrades in support (you know who you are).
*
hunting and hunting
until finally
victory was mine in Japan!
and delivery
how fittingly,
back in its place of birth
Switzerland at my first ever SIHH (more about this later)
*
So I unveil to you, my fellow forummer brothers-
the object that I have
fought long and fought hard for.

Big Pilot 5004 (2009) Tribute to Japan Edition of 100
*
I am in love with this watch!
An elegant, understated, very ‘japanese’ dial...
But yet a Bold Big Pilot
A wonderful juxtaposition
A very special thanks to Tracy (Kokoro) -– for inspiring me (and giving me strength to carry on) with your own photos of your Japanese beauty Shing –- for being the great facilitator/introducer of new friends, for sharing your knowledge; you are the ‘Master’ And of course to the rest of you Forummers (virus-sufferers) - for letting me poorly articulate my madness (but that i know you all still surely understand!)
