As for the two examples the Huber leaves me cold. Got visions of a watch enthusiast who happens to be a pneumatic drill operator testing the durability of some expensive watch as he digs up the road!
It is an interesting question why the word "club" was chosen. It was always my interpretation - having English as a second language - that it refers to a social group or gathering and appeals to a sense of belonging. Facebook Club, Polo Club, Golf Club, Yacht club, Dive Club, or Drill Club if you will. "The watch that you wear when you meet other people of the club". So I always thought it was a very smart name.
I do not think it is necessary that every Club requires specific functional characteristics beyond design characteristics or perhaps just a logo.
Peter
PS: What about a Collectors Forum Club? ;-)
For Anglophones, a 'Golf' or 'Yacht' Club is a private facility ostensibly built around an activity, i.e. sailing for a yacht club, but allows for other social activities as well.
But to assume that the marketing guys coming up with these names were thinking that thoroughly is dangerous.

Peter, first of all I am really pleased to see you back on the forum again. As to to a return of a 42 mm Golf club, I think it might have nostalgic and contemporary appeal. My wife wears her Golf Club often. She gets very favorable comments. A larger one would be even more appealing to her.

12.5 mm were needed to include the soft iron inner case and the bigger soft iron dial.
Yeah i'm aware of that Hebe (funny i'd have wagered @12mm/it's certainly not the 14mm the internet blog writers keep declaring-slimmer than an original -crystaled 866 is how i remember it lol's)...'bobbin-on' is often used when someone's performed miracles.

Well, for further concept thoughts don´t forget the Golf-Club ref. 1830, with the really heavy and handmade bracelet.
This bracelet design lets look it bigger, as it really is !

I really like this bracelet and its fitting to the case. Unusual and interesting for a vintage collector. I still have regrets that I have missed a GC 1830 in Düsseldorf last year, despite the treatment of the case. ;)

Perhaps I am too biased Peter but a larger cushion shaped Club family would have been my dreams some years ago and certainly expressed somewhere in the archives. Clemens, Antonio - spreading to other club versions would have been the cherry on the cake.
I had the chance to wear Michaels Roger Dubuis La Monégasque (coincidentally whilst sitting next to Roger Dubuis) and I was day-dreaming of the same comfort and size but with an IWC signature on the dial.
When IWC were getting ready to launch the Portuguese Yacht Club I had the privilege to spend some time in the IWC HQ and based on my interests in the vintage Club family (I had an example of each in my collection) I learnt of limited details of a potential "club model" in advance. I signed a confidentially agreement to have access to the archives. I was bold enough (this is now around 5 years ago) to suggest what Peter has suggested but also for the Polo and new club members too. But it didnt happen - In WATCH International there was an article prepared called something like "Join the club" which details the social aspect of the terminology ! Who knows what the future holds......... I keep dreaming.

How thick is that GC Hebe?....looks a touch on the stout side for a datejust only (don't recall ever having seen a side-profile of one before)
