Hi,
I believe to have seen a fake Yacht Club on the Swiss auction site Ricardo. Ricardo informed me that I would have to report this to the owner of the trademark and then report it to them. This seems somewhat complicated, however, I wonder if anybody here has ever reported fakes to IWC and if so, what department ought to be contacted.

Thanks four your reply, Michael. I can imagine that staff is overwhelmed. I just find it quite frustrating that auction sites such as Ricardo in Switzerland do not protect buyers by at least contacting those sellers they have been warned about (and not just by me) - both are customers of the auction site!

In the UK, suppliers of fake or counterfeit watches can be reported to the Trading Standards Agency for the district where the seller is based. They work closely with the police from initial investigation to raiding premises, confiscating goods and prosecuting offenders. I often see the results of their work as, being considered by the courts as an expert witness for Richemont Group watches, I am regularly called on by Trading Standards to verify authenticity of confiscated watches as part of their prosecution cases. I believe there are similar government agencies in all EU states. I am sure Switzerland must have an equivalent agency to protect their consumers that you could report Ricardo or the seller to.
