Need some help with making the right choice. The Aquatimer Automatic 3548 or the Aquatimer 3719 Chronograph. I like the moving central senconds hand on the automatic, however I also like the sporty look of the chronograph. I will be using this future watch for my sailing adventures. My Ingenieur AMG CLS 55 has a textile strap, so it doesn't like water that much. I could really use your opinions!

I guess that while sailing you will not need to dive deeply, nor will you have much time to use a chronograph in a meaningful way. But you may encounter some shocks and knocks. So isn't an Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth with the extra shock absorbing 80110 movement a better idea, from the functional point of view? With the screw-in crown it is more than enough water resistant too. On a bracelet it will be almost indestructible (is there any on the Mission Earth?).
Kind regards, Paul

To Kevin, thank you for your opinion. I am curious.... Why would would you choose the chronograph?
To Paul, yes a very good idea. It has a rubber strap and about the 80110 movement, you are right. It is better protected against shocks. However, I already own an Ingenieur AMG CLS 55 with the same calibre, awesome watch! Unfortunately there aren't any rubber straps available for this particular model, only a titanium strap and personally I dont like to wear watches with a "rockhard" strap (inge 42,5 mm) For my sailing time I was thinking of an Aquatimer especially. Moreover, it gives me an excuse to buy a new IWC!!!

I understand that part. But this watch shown in business conditions would be my choice when to go on a sailing trip. The titanium bracelet is perfect, I am glad I bought the watch when the bracelet was part of the standard offer.
Kind regards, Paul

IMO, A watch with a full metal bracelet is always better value. Profit margins may be higher per unit for IWC with straps, in addition to replacements further supporting the revenue stream, but for overall durability and usage, the everyday watch with bracelet is definitely better for the active lifestyle. I believe they also hold better resale value, but I might be wrong.

Melchior,
While I have both chronographs and non I usually like the look of a chronograph. I took my AT Galapagos on a week sail trip in the BVIs this part summer and the chronograph came in handy many times during our trip.
Thanks,
Melchior
Enjoy,
Kevin
Kind regards,
Paul
