Shing, I agree. Still, there is something "official" in the air if GTGs are organized using this IWC forum, and IWC might not like this. So either you do this privately (like in our club), ask IWC for an approval or you wait for IWC to do this through this forum.
I really am not sure what u are talking about David - three distinct ways as u wrote to go about organizing a GTG ? LOL - man, if that were true GTGs are becoming way too formal, darn it - are we in danger of becoming a bureaucracy ?
I had four GTGs in the last 10 days, don't think there is any pressure on me to ask for permission, or report, each and every single one of them - and to whom if I may ask ?
Really David, I don't think there's a need to demonize the brand and the people running it in this forum which by the way is hosted, paid, and sanctioned by the brand.
for me GTGs are a simple thing - they can be ad hoc, or long in the planning. could some be left out, or could some not make it ? sure. I don't personally keep tabs on squabbles or special agenda-ed persons that may get themselves 'written off'. I will shake the hand of any forummer who approaches me - in the Palexpo during the SIHH week too - and I see no need for anyone to scutter off. If they did, then it's stuff in their head, not mine.
and I don't think there are any GTGs 'organized through this forum', although I am certain I have seen a few 'ok - will be in XXX city, so do buzz me if anyone is keen on a GTG'. I don't think that elevates it to a 'IWC Forum Sanctioned GTG'.
Shing
I have no idea why you read something like "demonize the brand and the people running it in this forum" - please help me understand. My only intention was to say (for the reason you are mentioning yourself - the forum being paid by the brand) I think that the people running this forum should maybe asked before such GTG are organized with the help of it. I think that would only be fair and polite. What is so wrong with that?

I don't enjoy handing out criticism, but frankly I'm tired of it all. David, surely u can see that it is wholeheartedly arrogant of you to be assigning duties and responsibilities to persons you may not have made or know of their existence even.
And... it doesn't make sense - why should there be assistance rendered to ensure a GTG happens ? What are we - living under some form of horological-tyranny ? The universe which you imagine us to be in, is one that is wholly disjunct from the real one. It is a free world we live in out there - and specifically in this forum that freedom is subject to the simple commercial conditions that delineates the boundaries & parameters of behavior that can/should be exhibited within it.

Shing, thank you for your post. You collected many of my statements, and I thanked MF and IWC repeatedly that I was allowed to post them in this forum. Some may agree, some may disagree with them, and I don't see anything wrong with that or a reason to get personal. I hope you agree that life would be extremely boring if everybody would agree to everything. Still, we have a common ground: I am sure you like your collection of contemporary watches as much as I do. There are many IWCs amongst them, and they light up the day for me so often.

There is a very big distinction between 'I am just giving my opinion, and I am entitled to give my opinion freely',
and
'I will make blanket criticisms - reiterating the same point (or small variations on the same theme)' To me there is only one opinion you have consistently made - and I will not repeat it. My earlier posts in this discussion suffices to illustrate them.
I have absolutely no clue what u mean by 'I am sure you like your collection of contemporary watches as much as I do. There are many IWCs amongst them, and they light up the day for me so often' David, because any rare positive statements you make about any of the watches of this brand is dwarfed by the negative statements you make.
Far be it for me to 'take it personal' David - I'm sorry, but this is the one time in my many posts that I am doing this -- and you opened the door for me on this unfortunately - again my earlier posts in this discussion refers. When that door is opened, it swings both ways unfortunately.
