Niche references of succesful models, some may like them.
It's a common habit (not that weird) to exploit the design of famous models to please the widest audience possible. These models should target people who see life colorful!
Top gun, DBF etc. aren't these series thought (also if not mainly) to gratify people who like to put together watches and some other hobbies/passions they share?
AP f.i. does with those, sometimes bizarre, Off Shore models it proposes etc.
Talking niche, I'd like to see IWC entering the same path Panerai took, bringing back some old models' designs, being, sufficiently (chancy adverb) faithful to the past.
Actually IWC already did that and did it, if not first, between the first, with the Vintage collection.
The real challenge though, would be to interpreting the old models keeping their charm, appeal and technical features, intact. That would give credibility to the project.

Some of us like blue (haha) or green or red. So IWC is providing plenty of choices. Even if some of these seem to be outside of the old staid IWC, I like the opportunity to pick up something unique. My Carlson Doppel is a good example of something unique which is basically a different dial and date wheel combo in a limited edition. If you don't like green don't buy it. I won't, but I might go blue.

Hello Alan
What do you generally eat for breakfast? It is really a gift to see anything IWC brings as positive.

Two hard boiled eggs and orange juice.
This is IWC'S forum. Whatever negative feelings I have are usually left behind lest we suffer the same fate as that other Forum.
Wise words, 100% backup!!
